GCSE stands for General Certificate of Secondary Education. They usually form part of the National Curriculum taught to pupils aged 14 to 16 in years 10 and 11 at school or college. GCSEs are a highly regarded benchmark qualification to demonstrate you have the abilities and understanding of a certain subject to further study it at a higher level. GCSEs are usually used as a way to gain entry onto A-Level subjects, BTEC Level 3 Diplomas, International Baccalaureates (IB) and are often also required for acceptance onto degree courses and apprenticeships.

GCSEs are comparable to many secondary school curricula worldwide. Including International GCSEs, USA GED or High School Diploma, Hong Kong’s HKCEE, Singapore’s O-Level and the Indian CBSE.
