The course will provide students with the foundation understanding of best practices and conduct when it comes to treating and assisting patients at this difficult time.

The RQF qualification will guide students through the main areas associated with end of life care and provide them with the skills and knowledge to best help and assist not only the patient but also family and friends dealing with the stresses and strains of grief.

The course consists of 5 units of study:

  • Unit 1: Understanding end of life care
  • Unit 2: Communication during end of life care
  • Unit 3: Assessment and care planning in end of life care
  • Unit 4: Person-centred approaches to end of life care
  • Unit 5: Care during the final hours of life and bereavement care
